Karen writes a monthly column for Crazy English Speaker, a bilingual (English-Chinese) audio magazine in China. Her essays and articles have appeared in Crazy English Teens magazine, the online journal Coal Hill Review (http://www.coalhillreview.com/?cat=24), the anthology The District Lines published by the Washington-based Politics & Prose bookstore, The Loyalhanna Review, The Times-Picayune and The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
Karen was the Chinese translation checker for biography Honorable Survivor by Lynne Joiner, and one of the collaborators with DC-based artist Judy Byron for her art installation, Continental Drift. She was a semi-finalist in the International Proverse Prize 2013. She received an honorable mention in the 80th Annual Writer’s Digest Writing Competition.
Karen was graduated from Chatham University with an MFA in Creative Writing. Besides blogging, Karen interprets and translates for English-language reporters and news organization that focus on China. Her memoir Golden Orchid: The True Story of An Only-Child in Contemporary China is forthcoming.
